Evaluation of finished product
I used a focus group to give me qualitative feedback on my advert and they all gave me their honest opinions. I feel that the clarity of communication was clear when it came to me asking the audience for questions but at times i was hesitant when answering questions, this may of caused a misunderstanding between me and the audience because it may seem like i don't know the answers to something i created myself which makes me look unprepared and unprofessional. My original intentions for this advert were much higher because i feel that i rushed this advert and just had to add things in that were necessary. The feedback has allowed me to know what to do next time i edit something, the main focus on making my editing better is to make it look more natural which i was told to do from a few people.
The people said that I should of made my advert more realistic and natural looking, especially when it came to the circular fade, it did not make it look professional or natural. On the other hand some of the effects that i used such as the fade of light made it look like a story and allows the audience to sink into it. My technical qualities could of been better when it came to using better effects and video quality. My advert looks like someone jogging with motivational music then he jogs past a girl who catches his eye and then he trips over because he was distracted, then in the background there are people laughing. My intentions for the finish product was meant to show a humorous side to adverts and have the motivational music build up to a disappointing moment.
There seemed to be mixed emotions from the audience when it came to the music. Some said that they like the music and some said that they found it too motivational for the type of video. I can understand why they said that but the music was set to match the motive of jogging and exercise. They also said that they did not like the part when the character tripped and there was laughing in the background. They said that it wasn't necessary and potentially ruined the video because you don't usually have parts like that in professional adverts on television.
I believe that i asked appropriate questions that were brief and direct. Asking short questions made it easy to give a yes or no response with a reason why they gave that answer.
I personally think that the successful part of this advert was that whenever it changed scenes you didn't notice it and they all blended in together perfectly. On the other hand, I had visioned the advert to be humorous because our audience had seemed to be a young because of the answers we received in our survey which showed that there were people from the age of 12 who use mobile devices. I believe that the advert did not match what i had visioned because my technical abilities when editing are not the greatest and i should look at how to edit things at a professional level which catches peoples attention easily simply because it will be a better quality advert. I believe that the audience feedback is what motivated me to plan for better editing next time meaning i agreed with what they said to me, the positive and negative things.
I believe that when it comes to recording i am technically good, i say this because i was the one who had to get the close up of the characters feet when he was running, i had to keep up with him and keep the camera steady so that it simply looks good. I also believe that i was good at framing the advert and made them all fit together smoothly apart from the effect which was the circular fade. From the beginning of the video you can not tell clearly what the advert is about until the part he falls over and pulls out his phone and eventually takes a picture. The build up to revealing the phone may have caused a lot of confusion to the audience but i believe it was a good idea because they did not know what they were expecting so its almost like it is the first reveal/advert of the new phone.

Task 4 - Screening
For our product we used a focus group and a survey to gain information. We asked people questions regarding mobile devices and also their age. The survey was used to answer specific questions which benefited us in knowing exactly what they think.
- The cons of these methods were that the focus group wasn't very big and neither were the survey responses, the information was still enough for us to use though.
This meant that we wouldn't be getting high quantity opinions meaning the product may not match what certain want from a phone which meant loosing sales.
- The pros of these methods is that we saved a lot of time and money gathering a small group of people and also getting too many peoples opinions can become biased.
If we had chose to get a lot more people to be in our focus group then this would took more time to organise and also too many people at once to give their opinions.
When asking the focus group questions i kept the questions short and brief so that i could get a quick response and was able to get around to everyone and hear their feedback. I asked questions such as; do you like big or small phones, do you prefer Apple or Android phones, what do you look for in a phone etc.. I received clear answers such as either a yes or no and once they gave me their answer i asked them to explain their answer briefly. Doing this made the process quick and gained the relevant information

We gathered our information from people ages between 16 - 18 because this was the age range from the focus group we gathered but the surveys had responses from people from the age of 12. We did not aim to ask or gather specific gender groups but just allowed anyone to turn up and there was both males and females in our focus group which gave us an insight on their different preferences.
In the survey i asked questions such as; how old was you when you got your first phone, what phone do you prefer, what size phones do you prefer etc... Asking these types of questions was effective because it let us know whether different aged people prefer different things and if they were to prefer different things because of their age then we would have to decide which audience to target. Also it was very easy to answer the questions because the possible answers were already there but you just have to pick the one that relates to you

We believe our feedback was reliable because the audience were telling us purely their honest opinions and even things that can make our products better. The feedback also allowed us to look at more aspects than one which can lead to our sales audience to become bigger. To improve the process next time i could get each person in the focus group to bring an additional person just for that extra opinion. Also i believe that i should survey people abroad to see what their opinions are like and see if they prefer different things, this would make our sales audience much bigger.

Task 4 - Present the results
To get my audience feedback i used an audio recording.
From the feedback i can understand that i lost their interest because of the non realistic effects. I agree that the effects did no look very good but i had visioned something better but was not able to find it on the listed effects. This resulted in my having my advert rated 6/7. Also some said that they liked the music but others said they did no like it very much because it was "too motivational".
They also said that i shouldn't make it so dramatic or jump straight into the music at the beginning and also the wind was causing sound interference. Also there s a part where the video goes blurry which turned a lot of faces in a negative way and the video did not look natural.

Task 3 - Sources of information
When creating my advert i used a lot of sources of documents to help structure the process.
When it came to the production stage, we briefly referred back to the storyboard just to be sure of what parts we were about to film. Having this document helped us to have a structure to the process and incase if anyone ever forgot anything then they could look back at this document but that was not likely to happen and did not.
For our planning we did not make many notes because we discussed between us clearly what we was going to do and sticking to that plan so that we wouldn't have to plan, rush or improvise anything in the future. We used sketches instead to make different ideas and then come to one decision as a group.
When it came to our budget we were very responsible and stayed well within our budget limit. Having done this gave as the advantage of emergency money incase if anything ever happened to the filming equipment or costumes. We also did not need to use any money for transport as we saw from our location plan. It was within walking distance and we hardly used it because the directions were very direct and easy because there was hardly any turns when going to the location. We also went on google maps and chose specifically the quickest route to get to the location which benefited us because we saved a lot of time which also meant more time to film if needed.
For the shooting schedule document, we used quite a few times when it came to looking at time we started recording and what time we were going to finish. Looking at the document and seeing how long each scene should be was very efficient and allowed us to stay in control. If we did not have this document then it could of caused problems such as taking longer than we should to film a scene and possibly eventually running out of time to film the scenes.
The shot list document was the most important document because this was basically the plan for when it came to actually recording the advert. This document was our reminder of what we want the advert to look like, by that i mean the types of shots that we were going to use in the advert. We had 2 different sections which was for the phone itself and the running scene which would display different angles which we felt were the best for those scenes.
For costumes and props we did not need the document because no props were needed and the actors were already dressed and purchased the costume in advance. The storyboard was not used because we already knew in which order we was going to record and knew what to do for each scene, we also stuck to this storyboard from the beginning.
Although we did not feel it was necessary, we had a risk assessment sheet to basically ensure everyones safety. We did not use it that much because we were all responsible and aware of our surroundings. On the other hand, this document was a reminder for us for what to be aware of so that no one got injured or hurt. The only huge threat was traffic but the route that we took hardly had any traffic and we was not on the main roads so it wasn't very busy. All of our crew had each others numbers so we were able to communicate with each other before filming so that we would know if we are all able to film on that day and where they are. This also benefited because we could call and see if any crew members were able to do something for the group such as bringing a bottle of water to give to the character that was jogging.
For our audience research we used survey monkey to ask the public questions regarding mobile devices. This helped us choose our target audience and what phone to use. Also our focus group gave recognizable answers to the answers from the survey monkey which made us more focused on the high percentage questions and relate it to them.
The document were useful for remembering what we were doing but we did not use them much because we all knew what we was doing and were clear on the plan and visuals.
- Next time we should pick somewhere a little bit more lively because there were not many people seen in the background which would help to make it look more realistic.
- The document that could be improved next tine would be the time schedule because we kept running into small things such as traffic causing us to take longer to film.
